The beach. Definitely not your favorite place. They could be crowded, loud, and the ocean sometimes too cold to even dip a toe in, and yet here you were. Well, you weren't exactly on the beach yet. In fact, you were actually in the parking lot... in a car, your boyfriend's car to be exact. A towel was wrapped around your form, hiding from both of you how you looked in your bathing suit.
Your boyfriend sat in the driver's seat, looking at you seriously. "(Y/n)..." he said gently.
"Ludwig I've changed my mind... I don't really want to go swimming..." you said quietly, wrapping the towel tighter around yourself, not letting your eyes meet his.
A slight frown made itself evident on your German boyfriend's face as he clicked his seatbelt off so he could more easily maneuver himself to look at you, cupping your cheek. It took you a moment before you shyly drifted your gaze up to that of Ludwig's usually piercing blue one. Usually his eyes showed his alertness, his stubbornness, his strength, but when he looked at you, you could feel your heart melt at the tenderness at which he did so.
You had something of a weight problem. Of course it wasn't as bad as you almost constantly thought it was, after all almost every girl can find a flaw when they look at themselves in the mirror, no matter how beautiful they really are. You were just a little more chubby than you would have liked to be, and it almost constantly embarrassed you unless you were just around Ludwig. He made you feel like a princess, no matter what.
"(Y/n)," your name was again whispered by him, making you blink your big (e/c) eyes up at Ludwig, making a rare smile tilt up his lips. "You are beautiful..." he muttered before shyly pecking your lips.
He was never one for physical affection, that much was true, but he would do anything if it meant you would feel better about yourself. To him, you were one of the most beautiful girls in the world, not that he would admit it freely. He wasn't really... confident when talking about feelings or emotions in general, but if it meant making you feel better he would do anything.
A shy smile spread across your face. "Thanks, Luddy..." you whispered, grateful for the compliment. It would be one thing if it was just your mom or your grandparents complimenting you, they were meant to say things like that, but for Ludwig to say things like this to you, it was practically an honor. You had known him for three years, dating him for only two of them, and throughout that time you had gotten to know him quite well. You knew quite well that he wasn't one to simply spew out any compliment that came to mind. No, he would much rather show you how he felt rather than say it.
For instance, he didn't have to tell you those magical three words because the simple way he opened his door, got out of the car, and walked to your side to open your door for you as a gentleman would spoke louder than you felt he ever could.
Letting a light blush cover your cheeks, you took his hand, getting out of the car, still holding your towel around you. Ludwig's words reassuring you to get out of the car, but not to quite yet let go of your towel.
Your flipflops slapped the pavement as you made your way towards the beach, it was then that the sand began to find its way in between your toes.
As you slowly approached a spot on the beach where a large blanket was spread out with a picnic basket in the middle holding it down, keeping it safe from the wind’s grasp. Nearby was the rest of the Axis, Feliciano and Kiku, both working on their own separate sandcastle. Feliciano was happily chatting away, patting the damp sand down as Kiku just nodded, preferring (as usual) to remain quiet.
You looked up at Ludwig, taking in his appearance, from his tousled blonde hair, not slicked back as it usually was, to his pale blue eyes, and then down further, to his bare and quite muscular chest.
"You are beautiful..."
And slowly, you let your towel fall.
